On December 16, 2016, the opening ceremony of the World Championship of Kozak Fighting was held at the Sports Palace in Kharkiv.
The competition was attended by 375 athletes from 12 countries: Ukraine, Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Morocco, Congo, USA, Turkey, and Poland.
The opening ceremony of the Kozak Fighting competition was attended by: WCFF President Vladimir Fedosovych Mashkovskyi, Deputy Mayor of Kharkiv for Family, Youth and Sports Affairs Oleksandr Viktorovych Popov, Deputy Director of the Department of Family, Youth and Sports of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Serhiy Viktorovych Khristoiyev, Vice-President of WCFF Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Korgiyaka. Chief Referee of the Competition Vladimir Anatoliyovych Radionov read the official greeting to the participants on behalf of the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Igor Oleksandrovych Zhdanov.

The World Championship of Kozak Fighting was held with the support of Chervona Zirka Pharmaceutical Plant, the official representative of Pierre Cardin in Ukraine, and Slobidska Cossack Army.
