On December 8, 2013, the first World Championship in the Ukrainian national type of mixed martial arts “Kozatskyi Dvoboi” was held in the city of Kharkiv. The championship gathered 400 participants from 6 countries: Azerbaijan, Algeria, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, and of course the founders of this sport — Ukraine. In the team standings, the Ukrainian team took first place, the Russian athletes confidently won second place, and the Azerbaijani team took third place. We would like to note that the first World Champion in the Ukrainian national martial art in history was an Azerbaijani fighter — Ali Aliyev (born 2006). The tournament was held in all age groups starting from children aged 8 and ending with veterans over 40. The competition was held in the following disciplines: “Odnotan” — these are formal and free technical complexes; in this section, we would like to note the athlete from Algeria — Mameri Farid (in the photo); the “Tan dvoboi” section — demonstration of self-defense techniques in pairs; “Zabava” — bouts with dosed contact; “Bornya” — bouts with light contact, and the culmination of the sport “Herts” — bouts with full contact with the maximum arsenal of permitted technical actions of both striking and wrestling techniques. This section is held only among men over 19 years old. This section was the most massive at the championship and attracted the maximum attention of spectators and tournament guests. In this section, we would like to note the athletes of the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation.
The tournament was held at the Lokomotyv Sports Palace named after Kyrpa at 90/1 Kotlova Street and consisted of two parts: at 9:00 a.m., qualifying bouts began at four venues, and at 17:00, a parade and the grand opening of the final part of the championship took place, after which the final bouts were held. The opening of the championship was conducted by the Deputy Mayor for Family, Youth and Sports — Oleksandr Viktorovych Popov. The athletes were also greeted by the organizers and honored guests: President of the Ukrainian Sports Federation “Kozatskyi Dvoboi” — Radionov Volodymyr Anatoliyovych, President of the MMA Federation of Ukraine — Rozhkevych Oleh Hennadiyovych, Vice-President of the World Federation “Kozatskyi Dvoboi” — Sayapov Rishat Salimovich, Head of the Cossack Committee of the Public Council under the Kharkiv Regional State Administration — Ruban Valeriy Volodymyrovych, Advisor to the Mayor on Cossack Affairs — Posokhov Viktor Ivanovych, and Commanding Otaman of the “Slobidske Kozatske Viysko” — Posokhov Oleh Yevhenovych.
The championship was organized by the World Federation “Kozatskyi Dvoboi” (WCFF), and the direct conduct was entrusted to the official WCFF representation in Ukraine — the Ukrainian Sports Federation “Kozatskyi Dvoboi”. The tournament was held with the support of the Kharkiv City Council. General partner of the tournament — chemical-pharmaceutical plant “Krasnaya Zvezda”, partners of the championship — “Vseukrayinske Kozatske Viysko”, “Slobidske Kozatske Viysko”, “Kodatske Viysko Zaporizke”, technical partner — “BOYKO-SPORT” company. Special thanks to the administration and the entire working team of the Lokomotyv Sports Palace named after Kyrpa for assistance in holding the event; thanks to them and the coordinated work of the judging corps, the competition was held at a high organizational level.
