1. Objectives and Goals.

Open Cup of Kharkiv Region in Cossack Combat

is held for the purpose of:

– popularization and further development of the sport “Cossack Combat” in Ukraine;

– promotion of a healthy lifestyle;

– support of military and patriotic education of youth;

– improving the level of athletes and judges;

– further improvement of educational and sports work in youth sports schools, sports clubs, and sections at the place of residence;

– selection of promising athletes for the formation of the Kharkiv Region national team to participate in the Ukraine Cup;

– awarding sports ranks in Cossack Combat in accordance with the unified sports classification of Ukraine;

2. Date, Venue, and Competition Program.

Open Cup of Kharkiv Region in Cossack Combat

is held in accordance with the competition rules of the World Cossack Fight Federation (WCFF)

February 21 – registration and draw day;

February 22, Kharkiv, pr. Moskovskyi, 246-B.

9:00 weigh-in of adult athletes;

10:00 official opening, start of competition, preliminary bouts;

15:00final bouts, awarding of winners.

3. Organization and Management of Competition.

The Open Cup of Kharkiv Region in Cossack Combat is conducted by: NGO “Ukrainian Sports Federation ‘Cossack Combat’” (hereinafter USFSF) and “Kharkiv Regional Sports Federation ‘Cossack Combat’”. Direct conduct of the competition is the responsibility of “Kharkiv Regional Sports Federation ‘Cossack Combat’” and the main panel of judges approved by the Presidency of USFSF.

4. Preparation of Sports Facilities.

In accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 2025 of December 18, 1998 “On the procedure for preparation of sports facilities and other specially designated places for holding mass sports and entertainment events”:

¨ preparation of sports facilities is the responsibility of their owners;

¨ monitoring of sports facility preparation and ensuring the safety of competition is carried out by the working commission established by the relevant regional administration.

The owner of the sports facility is obligated to submit a certificate to the working commission no less than 4 hours before the start of the competition confirming the facility’s readiness for the competition.

Failure to meet the requirements of this clause, which has caused extraordinary circumstances during the competition, entails liability.

5. Competition Participants.

5.1. Athletes from teams of Kharkiv and Kharkiv Region, teams of clubs and sections from regions of Ukraine, formed based on preliminary regional selection competitions, are admitted to the Open Cup of Kharkiv Region in Cossack Combat on the basis of advance applications submitted by February 17, 2015, to the address “Kharkiv Regional Sports Federation ‘Cossack Combat’” ( ploxix111@rambler.ru ).

5.2. Each team with more than 10 athletes must have one judge at the expense of the sending organization.

5.3. All judges must have accident insurance and a medical certificate.

5.4. Competition is held in accordance with current international rules for Cossack Combat approved by the Federation and Ministry.

5.5. All participants must have: passport, accident insurance, and holders of Master of Sport (MS), Candidate for Master of Sport (CMS), and Honored Master of Sport (HMS) must have certificates;

5.6. Competition is held in the following age groups, weight categories, and divisions:

Onotan(freestyle and formal technical forms);

Tan-dubiy(technical bouts, demonstration of self-defense techniques, self-defense);

Zabava-1(unarmed combat with controlled contact limited, analogous to semi-contact);

Borniya-1(unarmed combat with light contact limited, analogous to light-contact);

Borniya-2 (unarmed combat with light contact standard, analogous to kick-light with low kicks and throws)

Herts-1 (unarmed combat with full contact standard, full-contact);

Herts-2 (unarmed combat with full contact standard, analogous to K-1 with throws);

Herts-3 (unarmed combat with full contact freestyle, analogous to MMA, mixed fight), adults only, men and women.

6. Financial Conditions of the Competition

Partial expenses for the organization and conduct of the competition are provided through funds raised by the Federation, extra-budgetary revenues, and charitable contributions. Charitable entry fee – 80 UAH per division.

7. Awards

Athletes who finished:

1st place – awarded medals and diplomas of appropriate degrees.

2nd – 3rd places – awarded medals and diplomas of appropriate degrees.

8. Sports Uniform and Equipment

Sports Clothing – the sports uniform of participants must comply with the traditional form of Cossack Combat, or one of the most well-known martial arts styles (karate, kickboxing, taekwondo, kung fu, etc.).

Sports Equipment and Protection – mouthguard, groin cup with supporter, hand wraps, hand gloves (10 oz), for Herts and Borniya-2 divisions open hand gloves for mixed martial arts (6 oz “maxmix”), foot protection, shin protection and helmet, for women and girls chest protection.

9. Applications

Preliminary applications for team participation in the competition should be submitted by February 17, 2015 to the email ploxix111@rambler.ru

  • Each team representative must submit to the credentials commission an individual application for athletes participating in the competition in the established form, with all points filled in, certified by the structural subdivisions of regional physical culture and sports departments.
  • Individual applications must be certified by a sports medicine physician from the regional sports medicine center and the sending organization.

Passports, athlete record books, and accident insurance are submitted to the credentials commission on the day of arrival.
