On May 18, the all-Ukrainian tournament “Cossack Warrior” took place at the KPI Sports Complex in Kyiv. The main objective of the tournament was to select the strongest athletes for the Ukrainian national team in the Ukrainian traditional martial art “Cossack Fight” (KB), to compete at the World Cup in Cossack Fight and MMA, which will be held in Bulgaria (Varna) from June 25 to 30.
The “Cossack Warrior” tournament brought together 306 participants from Kyiv, Sumy, Poltava, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Odesa, Cherkasy, Rivne, Volyn, Ternopil, Lviv regions and the city of Kyiv. The tournament was held with active support from the political party “Voice of the People” and it was very symbolic that, at such a turbulent time for the country, Cossack Fight athletes demonstrated – Ukraine is a United Country, whole, strong and unbreakable.
The tournament began at 10 a.m. with an opening ceremony. Athletes were welcomed by the tournament organizers: Head of the “Voice of the People” party – Roman Ivchenko and president of the Ukrainian Sports Federation “Cossack Fight”, honored coach of Ukraine – Vladimir Radionov. The highlight of the competition was the evening program, which featured final matches in the “Hertz – 3” (MMA) category. The tournament was held at a high organizational level, and all winners among adults, as well as the best young athletes and junior competitors received travel vouchers to the World Cup in Bulgaria.
